As a Christian, how do you see yourself impacting the film industry?
I want to create thought provoking material that sheds light on the reality of the world we live with a faith themed message. My take on film is edgier than most Christian Films, but feel that it will draw non-believers in as well as the church. The end goal is to lead people to the Lord with a powerful message.
What was the biggest challenge you overcame to make your film?
This was my first feature film which in itself is extremely challenging. It took 9 months to shoot over various weekends and we battled a blizzard, heavy rain, frigid and very hot temperatures. We filmed over all fourseasons and had seventy plus people involved to make the film.
Who are your biggest influences in film and why?
A few of my favorite directors are: Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, and Mel Gibson. The Passion of the Christ is what inspired me to become a filmmaker. These directors have shown me the power that cinema can have in the world and peoples lives.
What is the funniest or weirdest thing that has ever happened to you on set?
All three of my leads had dangerous falls during the duration of filming. Luckily no one was injured, but just odd how they all had major falls. I also was in a car accident on the way to debut my trailer for the film.
What is your favorite Bible verse? How does this influence your filmmaking?
This verse lets me know that God is in control of my life and career. No matter what obstacles come against me he has a plan to use it for my good. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
