What is your film background?
I have about 12 years’ experience in Video Production to include 2 Hunting cable shows, and numerous commercials that I produced and Edited. I am also in charge of our video ministry at my home church (Lexington Church of God). Faiths Song was our first attempt at a Feature Film.
As a Christian, how do you see yourself impacting the film industry?
We formed our company Northface Christian Films in hopes to be able to produce quality Christian entertainment that is uplifting and biblically correct. I feel that there are more people today than ever before, that have never read the bible and when they watch a Christian movie, what they see is what they believe, so we feel it is our calling to ensure that Christian films are 100% accurate to the teachings of the bible.
What was the biggest challenge you overcame to make your film?
Satan, he is always our biggest obstacle, as soon as I went to my pastor and told him I felt God calling me to make this film, I was hospitalized with a heart condition. He will fight anyone who wants to spread the gospel. Weather it was locations falling through or being turned away from the use of a venue because this was a Christian movie, Satan was there every day fighting us every step of the way. The hardest thing to do when you are making a film for God, is to let God direct how and where it goes.
Who are your biggest influences in film and why?
I was blessed to have Stephen Kendrick of the Kendrick Brothers share some advice with me as we were starting the film, he told me no matter what we do or how others feel about the film, if it is God’s Plan, then it will be successful. That stuck with me, every day of filming before we started we would always go to God in Prayer and ask for him to lead us.
What is the funniest or weirdest thing that has ever happened to you on set?
Wow, let’s see, I would say the weirdest thing that happened was one of the actors coming up to me at the end of a shoot and asking how I knew about him. I wasn’t sure what he was asking, So, I told him just from the auditions, He said but how did you know that the character you asked me to play, was actually my life story, I told him I didn’t Know, But God did.
What is your favorite Bible verse? And how does this influence your filmmaking?
Our Films Theme - Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
God has a plan for all of us, you just have to listen to that soft still voice, and do as it asks.
